  • Sampling and extraction strategies for plastics from complex media
  • Development of analytical tools for nanoplastic, microplastic or inorganic nanoparticle detection and characterization
  • Use and transformation of inorganic engineered nanomaterials through their life-cycle
  • Natural colloid formation and transport in the environment
  • Regulation and policy considerations for plastic or nanomaterials

Ph D and Postdoc Scholarships

Let's brainstorm together! I'm happy to help you develop your idea into a competitive proposal, to get you to Zürich and start working on some exciting research!

Swiss Government Excellence Scholarship

Each year the Swiss Confederation awards Government Excellence Scholarships to promote international exchange and research cooperation between Switzerland and over 180 other countries. Recipients are selected by the awarding body, the Federal Commission for Scholarships for Foreign Students (FCS). The Swiss Government Excellence Scholarships are aimed at young researchers from abroad who have completed a master’s degree

Individual Fellowships (IF) are a great option if you are an experienced researcher looking to give your career a boost by working abroad. They offer exciting new learning opportunities and a chance to add some sparkle to your CV. Applicants need a doctoral degree or at least four years’ full-time research experience by the time of the call deadline. The grant provides an allowance to cover living, travel and family costs. In addition, the EU contributes to the training, networking and research costs of the fellow, as well as to the management and indirect costs of the project. The grant is awarded to the host organisation, usually a university, research centre or a company in Europe.

ETH Zurich

ETH Zurich Postdoctoral Fellowships

The ETH Zurich Postdoctoral Fellowship programme (ETH Fellows) supports incoming postdoctoral researchers at ETH Zurich. The programme is intended to foster young researchers who have already demonstrated scientific excellence in the early stages of their careers. Applications have to be made jointly by the candidate and the potential host, who must be an ETH Zurich professor and willing to act as the mentor of the fellow. There must be convincing synergies between the host (group) and the ETH Fellow. The fellowships are intended as early support towards academic independence, hence priority will be given to applicants who propose their own projects. Thus, it is important that applicants come up with their own ideas and draft the application themselves.
